Fourth of July

Have you been enjoying the lazy days of summer? I can't believe July is almost here! I put this little dress on Miss Grace the other day and thought it would be perfect for the Fourth of July. I actually made this for Christmas time. Its called Peppermint Pie. Won't it be cute for a barbeque and fireworks?

What will your little one be wearing? There is still enough time to order this and have it in time for the fireworks!

Sunny Day

Sweet Tart

I have new dress to share today! Remember the Victorian Chocolate Dress and matching flower clippie? Well here it is in pink. I had planned on calling it the Sweetheart dress but then I thought of a cute variation... Sweet Tart!

The dress in the picture was actually made for someone by request so we didn't get to keep it. Scarlett was a little jealous- she loves pink dresses! Now take a look at this dress.

Do you like it? I did a custom dress last year in the blue floral fabric. Its called Bloom and Grow by Riley Blake. I came across it again about a month ago and felt inspired. I love the way the dress turned out and wanted to share it with everyone. I really like working with this type of denim. Its very light weight and comfortable. If I can find more of the Riley Blake fabric I'll add this to the shop. Please tell me if you know where I can get more...

One week to go!

Its finally here! The last week of school! My days have been filled to overflowing since I started working at the school. Working with high school kids drains away my energy! Scarlett and I are ready for a break. She loved going to preschool but she's looking forward to doing all the fun things we used to do before we started school. Story time at the library, going to the mall, visiting friends, and going to the park - we save our trips to the park for after the sun goes down!

I am so looking forward to more sewing. As you may have noticed, I've made my shop a very, very, very part-time hobby. I'll still keep it at the hobby level but I'll be able to do more. So now I need more ideas for new dresses... Let me know what you would like to see at Grace Lane Dress Shop. I love to hear from all of you. And that reminds me. So many of you have told me your reading this blog but I still have just one special follower. Easter Weekend

We really enjoyed Easter this year! It was a long weekend. Our church planned a major Easter event for the day before Easter. We had Sunday school buses that went out all over the city to bring families to church for an Easter drama, lunch, cotton candy, and bounce houses. It was a lot of work but very exciting. We did our egg hunt on Saturday morning before the big event. Here are pictures of Scarlett in her "Easter dress" for Saturday. Sunday's dress was more fancy... as in the Fancy Fuchsia dress available in my shop. This denim dress is also available.

Did you hear about the earthquake along the border of Mexico and California on Sunday? Well, we felt it here. It was pretty amazing to have an earthquake here in Arizona!

Sunshine

I just added this little dress to the shop. I love it! Very bright and cheery! The idea came from a great client who requested this dress as a custom order. Thank you, Tiffany! As I was working on this dress a song kept popping into my head.

Say Good Bye to Spring...

In my last post, I mentioned how beautiful it is here in Arizona. Spring weather and fields of desert blooms! Well, I think we're just about done with that- the last few days have been hot! Summer is coming quick!!! Here are some of the pictures I took last week. My outdoor photo shoot that was unsuccessful. I'll have to look at these pictures again in July when its 115 degrees to remind myself of better days... While we were out in this field, I picked up a dead palm tree branch and underneath was a big, fat, long bug. It had lots of legs so I thought maybe it was a centipede. I was excited to find something so interesting but Scarlett was scared to death. After that she was too scared to walk. I had to carry her back to the car!

Spring Weather

It has been so beautiful here the last few weeks. Spring weather! We don't usually get very much rain here in Arizona but it has rained about once a month for the last three months! All that rain has made the desert bloom.

I have two new dresses to add to my shop. With it being so beautiful outside, I took Scarlett to an open field and tried taking pictures of the new dresses but I'm afraid I'm just not a photographer. The pictures looked blah! So it was back to our good old back yard for pictures.

The shop opened Saturday and I have already heard from so many of you. Thanks for all the great messages and kind words! I'm so looking forward to getting started. Last year, right about this time, was when I first opened shop on Etsy and began meeting such wonderful people. This beautiful little girl and her mom were among the first. Shop Opens Saturday

Grace Lane Dress Shop will re-open Saturday, February 27. Hooray!

More good news... I have two new dresses. Take a look. I decided to do one fancy and one casual but for some reason I ended up doing both in blue. And almost the same shade too!

I started this blog because I thought it would be fun to share some behind the scenes details but I never got around to spreading the news that I had created a blog. So I'm doing that now. My Scrap Shack

I'm so excited about my new shop and wanted to share it with all of you! I have had this idea in the back of my mind for some time now and since I'm taking some time off of sewing, I thought this would be a great time to get it going. Its called "My Scrap Shack" and can be found on Etsy.

I have been sorting through my stash of trims and fabric scraps and decided someone out there might enjoy them and would actually get some use from them. I guess that is really the idea behind the shop- clearing out my clutter! I love shopping for trim, buttons, and lace so this shop will be very fun to keep in stock! If you are a bow maker, seamstress, or a just a very creative crafter please check it out. I have a lot to add to the shop!

Happy New Year everyone! Thank you to all who helped make the first year of Grace Lane Dress Shop so fantastic. I really enjoyed working with so many sweet people. It was very rewarding! I'm looking forward to another fantastic year.

I decided to create this blog as a way to keep in contact with the all the friends I have met along the way.
I also thought it would be a fun to share the adorable pictures that make the shop so worthwhile for me. As you can see the Polka Dot Crush dress was the hit of the year!

Grace Lane Dress Shop will be on vacation for a while. We are in the process of moving so the shop will be closed until we are settled in our new home. If there is anything you would like to see when the store re-opens please send me a message and let me know. I would love to have some input!
